Civil protection in one picture.

On a normal day the picture shows that nothing is happening. When a report comes in, it sits on the location, with buildings, residents, terrain and weather, and it can be played through in advance.

For:Disaster managementPublic administrationCrisis teamsMinistries

The film flies from high above down into an old town, shows an assumed fire spreading on a wooded slope, a raised water level in a river valley, a hospital whose neighbourhood is coloured by sector and a map of disrupted satellite positioning.

  1. From high above into the old town. From the surrounding area to the building
  2. Play it through before it burns. Demonstrator · assumed fire on a slope
  3. What if the water rises? Water level as a horizontal surface
  4. Who lives around it? Hospitals, schools and residents nearby
  5. Where satellite positioning is disrupted. GPS interference

Trailer, 33 seconds: from high above into an old town, an assumed fire on a slope, a water level, the surroundings of a hospital and GPS interference. All footage taken from the product.

Who it is for

Prepare, play through, explain.

Disaster management, administration and crisis team need the same picture of the location, before an incident and when reviewing it.

  • Disaster management

    Know the location

    • Buildings, residents, terrain and weather in one place.
    • Hospitals, care homes, schools and nurseries in the surroundings.
    • Official warnings across Germany on the same map.

    Emergency planning and exercises

  • Crisis team

    Play scenarios through

    • A water level to raise, metre by metre.
    • Demonstrator: an assumed fire with wind, rain and terrain.
    • Sun and shadow, view and terrain for planning on site.

Staff exercises in your own area

  • Ministries

    Risks with a place

    • Critical infrastructure by sector, on protected maps.
    • Flood zones, protected areas and population grid.
    • One map per task, with access per map.

Scene 01 · Locationacross Germany

A report comes in. What is there?

Camera flight from high above into an old town.

What you see

In the film: aerial imagery, terrain and 3D buildings of a city. The same map carries official warnings, DWD weather, air traffic and the radiation monitoring network across Germany; regionally denser, buildings, cadastre, population grid and protected areas are added.

What it gives you

When a report comes in, it sits on the location: which buildings, which facilities and how many people may be affected.

On the map today

  • Official warnings, weather, air traffic and radiation monitoring network
  • Buildings, cadastre and population grid, regional today

Next, together with you

  • Your operational areas, assembly points and emergency shelters as a layer

The map does not issue warnings itself; it shows official warnings.

Scene 02 · Play it throughregional today

How does a fire spread on a slope?

Demonstrator: an assumed fire on a wooded slope spreads step by step.

What you see

Demonstrator: an assumed fire moves cell by cell across 256 × 256 cells, driven by DWD wind and rain, slope and water surfaces; every 0.6 seconds the simulation advances ten minutes.

What it gives you

A scenario for exercises and explanation: which settlement, which road and which building lie downwind on the slope?

On the map today

  • Demonstrator on a wooded slope with DWD weather

Next, together with you

  • Your area as an exercise space, with your assumptions

A demonstrator for exercises, not a forecast.

Scene 03 · Floodingregional today

What if the water rises?

Water level scenario in a river valley, raised metre by metre.

What you see

With the slider, an assumed water level rises metre by metre as a horizontal surface over the terrain. The state's designated flood zones are in the same picture.

What it gives you

The crisis team sees in advance which roads, buildings and facilities stand in water at which level, not only once it happens.

On the map today

  • Water level to play through
  • Designated and provisionally secured flood zones

Next, together with you

  • Gauges of your region in the same picture

An assumed level rather than a prediction; the map shows no water depths.

Scene 04 · Surroundingsregional today

Who lives and works around it?

A hospital and its neighbourhood from the air, coloured by critical infrastructure sector.

What you see

Hospitals, care homes, schools and nurseries stand out in colour, according to their critical infrastructure sector. The population grid of the 2022 census shows how many people live around it.

What it gives you

Those who need help first are in the picture: hospital, care home, school and nursery at the location.

On the map today

  • Buildings by sector, population grid of the 2022 census

Next, together with you

  • Your list of sensitive facilities as a protected layer

Facilities from the cadastre and open data.

Your data

Your data in the same picture.

The map brings what is officially and openly available. Your plans, operational areas and lists are added, protected.
